As the capital of UK, London was firstly built as a city by the Romans in 43 A.D. .Today, London is the best business city in Europe and one of the most-visited cities. Numerous tourist spots, great variety of international cuisine, colourful and adventurous night life, have attracted and impressed travellers around the world. Samuel Johnson had ever said: If you are tired of London, then you are tired of life.

London is now one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. This is reflected in the food(curry and sweet & sour pork top the favourate-dish list), music, shops and festivals(Notting Hill Carnival, Chinese New Year Celebration) across the capital. When 300 languages are spoken here, over 70 international cuisines are available.

International shows and events are held in London throughout the year, of which have drawn large crowds from home and abroad. But still, London is great for tourists and families. It has 70 large museums(many are free for entry now), 30 major art galleries and about 150 theatres. London beats other European cities for its non-stop and colourful life.

London Transport – Tube, Bus, Train, Taxi & Mini Cab

As an international city, the transport in London is expensive yet efficient and fun. The means are Tube the underground, public bus, train(light rail) and tram.

Known as Tube, the London Underground is one of the largest systems in the world. Except public holidays such as Christmas Day, the service is available all the year round, from 05:00 to 00:00 daily, yet there is disruption and changes due to engineering work in weekends.

Buses only accept coins, travel cards or pre-paid oyster cards. Notes, credit cards are not accepted. Bus ticket can be pre-purchased at bus stops. Red is the colour but new designs are added. Children are usually excited when board double-deckers. Meanwhile, open-top tourist bus is seen everywhere.

British Rail is the national rail network which covers the whole of the countries, serving 2,500 stations. It is linked with Tube in London.

To save money and be a wise traveller, daily or weekly travel cards are recommended. You may have unlimited travel within the stated period in underground, bus, train, tram and light rails. For example, when a single fare in central zone 1 & 2 for underground costs you £4, a 1-day travel card costs you only £4.60, it entitles you to have unlimited travel in Tube, bus, train, light rail and tram. For details please visit www.tfl.gov.uk .

Black Cab the London taxi is much of an institution as the big red bus. Licensed taxi drivers must undergo strict tests and they are good guides when asked for travel information. Private mini cabs can be found in street or called, but need to ensure the cabs you call are licensed for security reasons.
